HoYoverse has acknowledged this issue, leaving players with a muted experience, particularly in important story moments involving characters like Kachina, Kinich, and Ajaw. The gaming community suspects this issue is linked to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike by voice actors, which has affected the game’s English localization.
The SAG-AFTRA strike has brought attention to how voice actors are protesting the use of AI in video games, calling for better working conditions. While previous Genshin Impact updates remained mostly unaffected, Version 5.1 marks the first time a major patch has experienced such issues with missing English voice-overs. According to HoYoverse’s patch notes, the omission of voice lines is due to “recording arrangements,” but the company has not explicitly tied it to the strike.
