De La Salle University’s (DLSU) Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) team, Viridis Arcus, showcased top-notch skills to emerge as champions in the Campus Game Fest 2024 MLBB tournament held at Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education College Central.
On October 26, Viridis Arcus secured their victory with a commanding 2-0 sweep against Singapore’s home team from the Institute of Technical Education. The squad—comprised of Aaron Joshua “aaronqt” Lim, Joshua Nathaniel “Aspectzxc” Tating, Emerick Johann “Nec” Ching, Kent Xavier “Kevyr” Lopez, and Ryu Lewis “laytutu” Godoy—took home SGD 2,500 (approximately PHP 110,000) and scholarships, marking a significant win for the university and the country.
Notably, team member Kevyr Lopez brings professional experience to the lineup, having played in MPL Philippines Season 9 with Blacklist International. His background undoubtedly contributed to the team’s strong performance, a testament to the Philippines’ reputation as a powerhouse in MLBB tournaments.
DLSU-Dasmariñas was also well-represented at the Campus Game Fest. Filipino player Jed James “Bops3” Soriano secured a silver medal in the Street Fighter 6 tournament, facing a narrow defeat against Singaporean player Scarlet. Soriano earned SGD 600 (around PHP 26,000) and a scholarship, further highlighting the Philippines’ impact across esports disciplines.
The Campus Game Fest 2024 was a weekend packed with high-stakes esports competitions, organized with the support of the Collegiate Centre for Esports and the Philippine Esports Organisation. The event aimed to uplift the esports scene in Southeast Asia, offering young gamers a platform to showcase their skills and potentially step into the world of professional gaming.
With Viridis Arcus and Soriano making their mark, Filipino players continue to solidify their standing in the regional esports arena, bringing pride to the Philippines and setting the stage for more victories to come.
