Death Stranding 2 Set for June Launch, Preorders Open Soon!

In a highly anticipated reveal at SXSW on March 9, Sony and Kojima Productions have officially confirmed the release date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Fans can mark their calendars for a June 26 launch on PS5, with preorders starting on Monday, March 17 at 10:00 AM Eastern. This new installment promises to expand on the immersive, post-apocalyptic world first introduced in the original Death Stranding, featuring the return of iconic characters like Sam Porter Bridges—voiced by Norman Reedus—and Higgs, reprised by Troy Baker.

During the panel streamed on YouTube and Twitch, Hideo Kojima offered a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come with a 10-minute trailer that showcased a blend of high-octane action and intimate, cinematic storytelling. The trailer highlighted the comeback of the Social Strand system and open-ended encounters that empower players to shape their own journey, emphasizing themes of human connectivity in a fractured world. Sony’s Kristen Zitani and guest composer Woodkid also contributed insights that underscored the game’s ambitious production values.

Kojima Productions is also taking this opportunity to unveil the Collector’s Edition, designed for the die-hard fans of the franchise. This edition will include exclusive items such as a 15-inch Magellan Man statue, a 3-inch Dollman figurine, art cards, a special collector’s box, and even a personal letter from Kojima himself. In addition, both the physical and digital versions of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will retail at $69.99, while a Digital Deluxe Edition is available for a modest $10 markup and includes additional in-game items like a unique machine gun and patches. Notably, all preorders come with a 48-hour early access window, giving fans a head start on experiencing the new game.

As the countdown to the launch continues, Death Stranding 2 is already sparking conversations across gaming communities. With its innovative gameplay mechanics and deep narrative exploration of human connection, this sequel looks set to carry forward the legacy of the original while pushing the boundaries of interactive storytelling. Stay tuned as more details and updates emerge in the coming weeks.
